Rethink Eutypa management
Grapevine trunk disease impacts vine productivity in every major wine growing area of the world.
Trevor Wicks assessed vineyards in Eden Valley in 1999 and estimated 30% of vines showed some Eutypa symptoms contributing to an 18% reduction in yields.
Loss of yield continues annually and increases as Eutypa severity progresses unchecked.
Vinevax Wound Dressing and Vinevax Bio-Implant are a proven way to slow down and stop this disease progression.
Although this loss of yield is expensive, it has been shown that the greatest economic damage of grapevine trunk disease in a 50yr vineyard plan is the cost of replanting.
Vinevax offers a pathway to avoid replanting.

Vinevax delays Eutypa progression
Trials in the Yarra valley clearly supported this statement.
Vines were assessed on a disease scale from 0 -5 ranging from leaf yellowing and stunted shoots right through to extensive die back and death.
All vines (treated and untreated) were assessed as 2; 3 or 4 in the original assessment.
All vines were re-assessed at 1, 2 and 3 years after the original application.
Over the 3 year, Vinevax treated vines were found to have 29% more vines that stayed within the 0 / 1 assessment, which correlated to healthy or mild symptoms.
At the other end of the scale, the use of Vinevax reduced the number of vines progressing to severe symptoms (or 4 / 5) by 40%.
Vinevax slows down the progression of trunk disease.
Refresh your vineyard and slow the symptoms with Vinevax
Vinevax protects re-trunked vines
When disease pressure becomes uneconomic, re-trunking can be an effective way to lengthen the life of your vines, even if Eutypa may still be present in your trunk.
Use a Vinevax Bio-Implant at the base of the new water shoot to form a living barrier and to keep the new trunk safe from the existing disease.
Re-trunking allows you to maintain and improve continuous vine productivity.
In trials on Sauvignon blanc vines in the Hawkes Bay, 97% of vines treated with Vinevax Bio-Implants were free of disease symptoms when assessed 4 years after re-trunking.
By contrast, 90% of untreated vines were already showing symptoms at this point.
Keep disease out, with Vinevax Wound Dressing
Wound management is an accepted part of vineyard management these days.
Using Vinevax, a registered biological wound dressing, effectively protects your wound from start to finish. Vinevax strains colonise the cut wood, penetrating up to 15mm into the tissue and remain active through Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn.
Use Vinevax every year as a paint or a spray to build up a presence of bio-inoculant in the cordon wood.
Vinevax Wound Dressing has been repackaged this year for easier use in the vineyard.
Rejuvenate your vineyard with Vinevax
The greatest cost to vineyard productivity is the need to replant.
The cost of replanting is estimated to be $35,000 at a time.
By contrast, the cost of re-working vines is $8000/ha.
Vinevax can rejuvenate your vineyard productivity.
Whether you are producing 5T/ha or 10T/ha, Vinevax can help close that gap between what trunk disease is eating away and what full productivity looks like.
Vinevax Bio-Implant can be bought and installed for less than $2/vine.
Change your approach to vineyard management and look to refresh 10% of your vineyard every year and enjoy the long term benefits that this will offer.
Replanting does not have to be the destination.
